13 JAN 2018 / Coast Guardsman Memorial, Cape Disappointment, Ilwaco, WA. 

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in a memorial service to remember and Honor the Coast Guard Personnel who have lost their lives in the service of their country while on Search and Rescue Missions and/or Training Missions; while on duty, on or near the mouth of the Columbia River and beyond. Upon completion of the mission, we have been invited to eat lunch (pulled pork sandwich lunch) at the Cape D Station mess deck. The boats will be docked at the station, all are welcome to view. This will be the fourth year of PGR attending this mission; it is inspirational to say the least. The US Coast Guard Honor Guard will render the rifle volley and four buglers will render TAPS. 

This year the Honored Dignitaries will be:
RADML David Throop, Commander of the 13th District which encompasses four states, the entire Pacific Northwest Coast and shares a border with Canada to the North and California to the South.

RADML (Ret 2014) Daniel Neptune, US Coast Guard Rear Admiral

Gordon Huggins, The lone survivor of the Motor Lifeboat TRIUMPH.

*1961 FIVE MEN, of a six man crew, lost their lives while on a Search and Rescue Mission on the 52’ Motor Lifeboat TRIUMPH (52301), the survivor, Gordon Huggins will be in attendance; F/V MERMAID 38’ crab boat - 2 lost souls.

*1977 CG UTB 41332 - 3 lost souls.

*1981 HH 152A SEAGUARD #1353 - 1 lost soul.

*1991 SEAKING 75’ - 3 lost souls.

*1997 CG MLB 44363 - 3 lost souls.

*2010 H-60 #6017 HELO - 3 lost souls.


Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been invited to stand for Spurgeon D. Keeth Sr., 94. Spurgeon served in the US Army from 14 April 1941 to 6 September 1945 as a Heavy Machine Gunner, earning the rank of CPL (E4). Spurgeon is the last Pearl Harbor survivor of Clatsop County Oregon. Spurgeon was also in the battles to liberate Guadalcanal and the Northern Solomon Islands. His medals include the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Rifle Badge for Carbine, and the Army Lapel Button at his Honorable Discharge. Please join us as we pay our respects and honor his service to our nation.
